Clubs, fixtures and Societies

Societies

New this year is the exciting launch of Societies.  Taking the University model, students who have an interest that we currently do not offer can create their own society.  In order for the society to be recognised, students complete the below microsoft form to apply to the school.  Societies are an exciting way to ensure that students get what they want in the school day.

Run for Students, by students

  • The society is led by a chair person who is chosen by the founder members of the society and undergoes a leadership election each year by all society members.

  • A secretary supports the Chair person with the strategic leadership of the society.  They are responsible for the recruitment of members and correspondence etc.  Like the Chair, their role is put to the vote each year.

  • Founders, a member of the society that helps with the initial setup and creation of the society.  Founders may stand for the election

  • Members - join the society after it has been established.  A member can move to either the Secretary or Chair role through the election process in the yearly meeting or, should the secretary/chair opt to leave the society.

The school has chosen to adopt this model not to replace our extensive clubs and fixtures, or, as an alternative to Enrichment but, to further enhance the provision.  This is an exciting opportunity for students to take ownership of a significant part of their social time, giving them skills and qualities that can directly translate to Post-16 education and careers.  we are very excited by the opportunity this presents for students and expect the first Societies to be established before Christmas 2026.
