Y5/6 Experience Sessions
Experience a session or full day at Ixworth High School
If your child would like to experience a session at Ixworth, feel the focused, calm and welcoming atmosphere of our classrooms, meet new people who are also interested in joining our school or, are just curious to experience the topic, then please register on one of our range of experience sessions for the Summer and Autumn term of 2026.
If you would like to book your child on an experience day, please follow the relevant link to Eventbrite located below the experience. If there are no further spaces available, please share your details with the school where we will add you to the waiting list. Alternatively, view the range of other experiences we provide throughout the Summer and Autumn terms and book your child onto one of these.
We ask that parents do not book their child onto all experience sessions immediately to allow others the opportunity to book as well.
All Year 5 students are welcome to book onto the CSI day event.
New additions will be added throughout the year as they become available. We have attempted to ensure they are in chronological order to support you with your own calendar and diary.
Wed 6th May 26 - Creating Technology for Healthy Lifestyles
Suitable for: Year 5 students

As technology evolves at lightning speed, it is changing the way we live—sometimes for the better, and sometimes in ways that challenge our health and wellbeing. But, what if we could use the power of technology to help us live healthier lives?
In this interactive session, the Computing team will guide students through this exciting question. They’ll explore today’s fast‑growing technologies, examine modern lifestyle habits, and investigate how innovative tech solutions could help tackle health issues that technology itself may influence. Students will work together to imagine and design ideas that use technology to support a healthier future.

Imagine a world where Global Warming is confined to the history books, where human kind lives in total harmony with the natural world around us, energy is free and abundant with no negative impact on any aspect of our planet. Join our Geography team in creating your very own future Eutopia. Look at the challenges facing the planet currently and how Geologists, Scientists and Politicians are working towards resolving them, ask yourself, how you could improve on this or bring in new ideas to ensure that the world you grow up in is not plagued by the same errors and issues that we see today.

Wed 20th May 26 - Ready, Steady, Bake!
Suitable for: Year 5 students

Learn about the high pressure environment of a fully functioning kitchen! Investigate food safety and hygiene, take responsibility for weighing, mixing, measuring and shaping your own biscuits before baking them. Could this be the start of your journey towards becoming a Michelin star chef?

Tue 2nd June 26 - Pop Art, Pop Up
Suitable for: Year 5 students
Time: 09:00-10:00
Join our 3D Design team to investigate one of the worlds most influential modern Art movements of the 20th Century. Bright, bold colours are distinguishing features of this style. Students will learn about this style of Art while designing their own pop up piece to take home with them.

Explore how theme parks use persuasion by identifying the audience and purpose, then apply various techniques (e.g., alliteration, facts, opinions, rhetorical questions, emotive language, statistics, triples) to create an effective and exciting theme park advertising leaflet utilising these very methods.

Join our Music team for a high energy, creative and unforgettable experience in the world of music. Compose a piece of music based on a specific genre, explore beat, build confidence and collaborate with others. Develop your own piece and record it utilising the school systems. No prior musical experience necessary!

Wed 8th July 26 - Crime Scene Investigation
Suitable for: Year 5 students
Time: 09:00-14:00
A crime has been committed!!
Join our school team to investigate a crime scene in school. Look for clues before following up through scientific process, problem solving and critical thinking. Everyone like a good mystery, do you have what it takes to solve this crime? Become the next budding Sherlock Holmes as you undertake a day of investigative work.
While spaces are limited, the capacity for this whole day event is considerably higher than for our other experience days.
