Option Choices

Choice

We are very proud of the range of KS4 options we offer our students.  With 16 available to choose from this year, we have again responded to student feedback and adapted the offering.  Our subject offering compares favourably with larger settings.  We are again encouraging our students to look at engaging in a range of options avoiding narrowing their curriculum too early.  Please read through our options booklet, not only for the information required for the subjects, but also for the range of information about GCSEs, post-16 and, being ready for your GCSEs.

Options Event

The Options event held on Thursday 19th March 2026, presented the key information regarding the selection process for options.  Key take aways are:

  • All students must choose at least one from each of the subject groupings provided on the sheet.

  • Students choose a total of three first choices, a fourth in order to ensure we have covered both possible poll results.

  • All student must choose a reserve option for each section except the first on the form as this will run.

  • Art, 3D Design and Photography are not permitted to be taken together due to the type of qualification they are.  One may be placed as a back up to another, however, it will only be issued if the first choice is unavailable in your combination.

  • We recommend students do not opt for an entirely academic or entirely creative route, creating a balance of both and examination types allows students to develop a wider range of skills for Post-16
